It has been three months since the shelter in place order took into effect in my area. I have been working from home every day and staying at home on weekends as well. I’ve slept, walked around my neighborhood, cooked, baked, drawn, taken care of plants, painted, written letters, and talked to friends and family online a lot in these three months.
First of all, I am grateful that I have been mostly healthy during this time. There was one week in April that I didn’t feel well, but besides that, I have been good. Secondly, I am grateful that I have a job that I can work from home. Thirdly, I am happy that I discovered a new hobby for myself, which is drawing. It’s been giving me so much joy and fulfillment that I haven’t had in a while.
It’s been more than two months since I started drawing. I started it thinking that I might quit pretty soon. Fast forward to now, I am still drawing. I can call it a hobby, and it has been helping me stay positive in difficult times. Although I am fortunate and I consider my situation to be easier than a lot of people, I worry for my family and friends about this situation. I feel stressed and anxious. Drawing has been helping me relieve some of those negative feelings for me.
Nobody knows how long this situation will continue, but I am going to focus on my well-being and help others whenever I can do so. Stay safe and healthy!
